Aliza Auerbach was born in Haifa in 1940. She studied History and Bible at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later worked as a high school teacher while also studying photography with Ephraim Degani. In 1972, she began photographing portraits, film stills, and images for newspapers in Israel and abroad. She worked as a photographer for the Jerusalem Post and Haaretz, and as a freelance photographer for various international newspapers, including The New York Times, The London Times, and Die Zeit. From 1989 onward, she worked as a documentary and art photographer. She passed away in Jerusalem and was buried in Givat Brenner.
