Israeli Photographers in Tribute to the People of the Western Negev
Israeli Photographers in tribute to the residents of the Western Negev is the subtitle of Album Darom (Album of the South), created by Dana Arieli. More than a hundred photographers are participating in the books, which brings the story of the Western Negev in pictures: the settlements, the residents, the events - beginning with the early days of the Jewish settlement in the region, with the establishment of the state and the 1948 war, up to October 7th and the war that followed.
A few days after October 7th, 2023, Arieli posted her photos from the Western Negev on Facebook. She sent an open call to photographers and continued uploading materials from 107 photographers over 107 days. This was compiled into an exhibition at the Petah-Tikva Museum, followed by the publishing of this book.
Album Darom has two editions: An artist book with a soft cover of 200 copies. And a hardcover edition published by Yedioth Books of 2000 copies.
