Itai Eisenstein’s photographic series in this book originates in a larger body of work, created in cities across Europe and Israel, unfolding an outline of anyplace or nonplace. In the course of this ongoing journey, the cities change – as indicated by the works’ titles – but the visual language remains consistent.
Eisenstein is an accidental flâneur who searches for the photographic potential embodied in the urban space. He takes photos with an analog camera, usually at nighttime when the city empties out of human presence and the rhythms of everyday life.
Eisenstein’s gaze fuses and resonates interior and exterior: the urban public space is reflected in interiors and vice versa.

The cumulative body of Eisenstein's photographs, which make up one continuous project, is made possible by his travels during the last two decades throughout Europe, and in Israel in large cities (Tel Aviv-Jaffa in particular, as well as in Haifa, Acre, Jerusalem, and Be'er Sheva). The periods of his travels vary, usually between three and five months, thanks to their length, he can take an in-depth look at the cities and towns he meets, not as a stranger, nor as a guest, but as someone who recognizes photographic potential and creates worlds for himself. Eisenstein exhibited in group exhibitions in Israel (the Tel Aviv Museum, the Bat Yam Museum, the Ashdod Museum of Art, and Mussara School of Art), Italy, and France. He had three solo exhibitions in Israel. He worked for about five years in framing artworks, and has a bachelor's degree from Bezalel Academy, Jerusalem.
