COME ABOUT

Lee Yanor

2025

The artist’s new book by Lee Yanor centers on her video work Come About. Bearing the same title, the book seeks to generate movement through the act of flipping pages, composed of image sequences that pulse with the spontaneous motion of the body and mind. Yanor weaves together image and text with poetic sensitivity: video works, negatives, and brain scans that bring internal processes into contact with external reality, leaving loose ends and breathing room for the viewer.

The four accompanying texts were written by researchers from the Weizmann Institute — Rafael Malach, Avi Levy, as well as Tamara Abramovitch and Drorit Gur Arie. Together, they articulate multiple perspectives on Yanor’s work, which consistently bridges the real and the spiritual, the past and the present.

Lee Yanor is a visual artist, filmmaker, and photographer. Born in 1963 in Haifa. Studied Art and Photography at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, at the Pratt Institute in New York, and at Paris 8 University, where she received a Master of Fine Arts in 1993. Yanor works creatively interweaving plastic arts, photography, dance, music, sound, and technology. Movement is an element that has a philosophical and physical presence within her. Through her video installations, emulsions, and holograms, she brings out the materiality of the image and imprints countless layers of reflexive and collective memories in time and space.
