First of All Bring the Atlas
Gali Popper
2017
"I have some stamps left and I shall here make use of them." That's what my mother wrote on one of the postcards. The postmarks stain with ink the stamps on the postcards. They stain the faces of the Sibyls painted by Michelangelo, and the face of the queen. They create a new painting. Parts of letters and numbers appear in the seals, and indicate the places and dates of the journey to Italy. I enlarge the stamps considerably. The size of the book reminds me of an atlas, and what my father always said to me, when he wanted to give me a broad answer, " First of all, bring the atlas."
