Oren Eliav (b. 1975) is an Israeli painter, a graduate of Cooper Union in New York, with a BFA and MFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. He has held solo exhibitions at the Israel Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Ashdod Museum of Art, and galleries in Paris and Tel Aviv. He is the recipient of the Ministry of Culture Prize (2017), the Rappaport Prize (2010), the Encouragement of Creativity Prize, and other awards. Eliav’s paintings explore the disruption of vision and the deconstruction of visibility as a mechanism of representation, probing what eludes the eye and is absent from the tangible.
