Following Myself

This book brings together photographic works from the early years of my artistic journey—pieces that, for curatorial reasons, were not included in solo exhibitions, yet remain deeply meaningful to me. All are in black and white, and most were taken in and around the kibbutz where I live and create.

I was searching for a unique voice for this book. I looked and found very few art books that combine original, personal texts written by the artist. So I chose to include my own writings alongside the photographs. Some were published in the local newsletter; others were written for holidays and communal events; and some are reflections and insights gathered over the years.

Since the book weaves together both photography and text, I turned to two editors: Enav Sharon Nitzan and Gal Shaanor from Studio Ninetito. Their sensitivity and precision helped shape the book without compromising either element. Their touch is evident on every page.

The relationship between the text and the images is not fixed. Connections are formed in the mind of the reader through contemplation and interpretation. Some readers have shared with me that, upon returning to the book, they discovered new and unexpected connections—layers that revealed themselves only over time.

The book was printed using a unique process, in collaboration with six technicians—some younger, some more experienced—in a production that combined traditional and contemporary methods. 240 copies were printed immediately under close quality control. The special cover was handcrafted at a later stage.
