Hilla Ben Ari
Hilla Ben Ari
2016
A comprehensive book introducing Hilla Ben Ari’s works, published in April 2016. The book provides a retrospective observation of Ben Ari’s multidisciplinary practice, which includes video, paper, sculptural, print, and installation works.
The starting point for the book is the solo exhibition "Naama" (2015, Mishkan Museum of Art in Ein Harod, Israel). From which derived links and connections to Ben Ari’s rich creative oeuvre. The article by Dr. Galia Bar Or, the curator of the exhibition, offers a fresh look at Ben Ari’s works from the early 2000s to 2016. The text deals with the question of the space of action of bodies with regard to the skeleton as a construction, as a meaningful theme within Ben Ari’s work. Through this theme, Bar Or examines the relationship between time and space in Ben Ari’s works, her preoccupation with the female body, and the fragile element of the individual/unit within cultural, social, and political structures.
