Lift

The book Lift, 2018, is one of my first artist books and the first one completed after finishing my studies. It is the rawest book I have created and serves as a milestone in my work. The images, made with oil paints, graphite, Shellac, pastel, and pen, are stitched into a pre-sewn book without prior knowledge of what would be revealed.

Within its pages, existential images of open and closed spaces blend into one another; the sun and moon coexist in one space (like Fellini’s ship), entering a room with a wishing well. The chest area turns into a sky. Hands appear within containers in an open space. The most secretive mystery is enclosed in a green field. Swallows fly within a recurring wheel, and so on.

These images represent a deep and personal exploration of the struggle. The spaces described in the book reflect an inner world that merges with external images, allowing for a deeper immersion into a rich inner world that creates its own narratives.
