Ora Brill

2024

A little light

One notebook from a cycle of twelve that I began creating at the outbreak of the October 2023 war. The works were made during December 2024, the month marked by the shortest day of the year—a resonance with my name, Ora—and a reflection of a personal–collective state of mind.

Images, or fragments of images, from a catalog of Reuven Rubin that I found near my studio served as structural bases for the works. I am also in dialogue with Naftali Bezem and his stranded boats. Alongside figures in complex situations, each of the works contains a reference to light: a ray of light, a glimmer of light.
