In the darkness — a small light
Created between October 2023 and the fall of 2024, this notebook is part of an ongoing visual diary—a personal and artistic response to a turbulent year in Israeli life. The book is part of a 12-book series.
The pages trace emotional, political, and social currents that emerged in the aftermath of the tragedy that occurred during the High Holidays. As the cycle of the Jewish year returns to its starting point, so too does the memory of loss, uncertainty, and the collective trauma that continues to unfold.
Through drawing, collage, and mixed media, the artist navigates a complex psychological landscape shaped by fear, grief, solidarity, and hope. Moments of quiet reflection are interwoven with gestures of protest and longing. The recurring tension between chaos and control, darkness and light, is palpable.
The act of creation—in the studio, in conversation, and in confrontation with reality—becomes a means of survival. Art here is not only a form of expression, but a way to hold space for contradiction, and to insist on the possibility of a different future.
