A Plant-Bed of Be'eri
Nivi Lehavi
2024
A Flora Index
The story of families from Kibbutz Be'eri through the plants that remained in their gardens and homes, after the events of October 7, 2023. The book, which accompanies an exhibition at Mazal Dagim 5 Gallery, and later opened at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art (February 2024), is a record of an event that cannot be contained.
The plants were collected among the destroyed houses in the kibbutz, seeking to document a part of what was, and what was destroyed, along with what remained. To document the relationship built between people and their homes, and to understand the land on which they live, and on which life continues to grow among the ruins.
