The Keeper of Sheep" is a small artist book. It is a collection of delicate drawings and paintings of brutal war. In times when the pain was unbearable, I found comfort in the methodical work of drawing, illustrating, and documenting the war and the stories of the fighters. I created hundreds of small, delicate sketches.
The book offers my personal perspective; it is not a must-have in every home, nor is it the most important war testimony you will encounter. However, I hope that anyone who chooses to hold this book will find some comfort in it. The ability to experience beauty even in the greatest pain is a human trait that brings healing to wounds, and perhaps hope for better days.

Taal Goldman (b. 1972) is an artist and member of Kibbutz Yotvata. She holds a degree in Industrial Design from Hadassah Academic College, Jerusalem. Goldman’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, art fairs, and biennials in Israel and internationally, and is held in private collections worldwide. Her practice centers on figurative painting as a form of visual research, exploring human-centered themes through a minimalist lens. She works across a range of techniques, including pastels, embroidery thread drawing, printmaking, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Inspired by the landscapes, nature, and culture of the Arava and kibbutz life, Goldman’s work integrates material exploration as a core element of her artistic inquiry.
