Three Scripts
Ram Salim
2025
Three Scripts is a typographic project that introduces three new Hebrew writing systems, each rooted in a different idea of what a “word” is: a magical force, a primordial concept, or a code. Each idea translates into a unique method of letter design—one system built on gematria values, another inspired by Proto-Canaanite script, and a third structured around Unicode.
The project unfolds as a developmental journey of writing: it begins with research and foundations, documented in the Book of Explanations; moves into aesthetic development, where the specimen booklet presents multiple typefaces for each system; and concludes with application, where the Book of Designs showcases the new letters in contemporary contexts.
