Gili Avissar is a multidisciplinary artist, born in 1980 in Haifa, who lives and works in Tel Aviv. Avisar holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in art from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, and since completing his studies has been creating large-scale installations using textiles and video. Avissar works primarily in sculpture, installation and video performance. His practice moves between object creation and performance. His creative process includes a deep exploration of materials and movement, turning each work inside out and reorganizing it into intense, colorful compositions.
Avissar has exhibited solo shows in Israel and abroad, including at the Mishkan Museum of Art, Ein Harod; MEWO Kunsthalle, Memmingen, Germany; Kostka Gallery, Prague; Koal Gallery, Berlin; Rupert Pfab Gallery, Düsseldorf; and in numerous group exhibitions. He has collaborated with dancers, choreographers and performance artists, and has created sets, stages and costumes for dance and theater groups.
