Five Variations on a Theme
The booklet “Wind” traces Yigal Tumarkin’s “Earth: Five Variations on a Theme” (1978) - a publication that embodies the spirit of the 1970s: Arte Povera, conceptual art, and land art in particular. In an intergenerational dialogue, Vinitzky reconstructs the ethos of the original booklet—its aesthetics, form, design, and typography.
As in Tumarkin’s booklet, it features photographs of his works alongside works by other artists, maintaining a direct or associative connection to the theme of “spirit” (the word 'wind' in Hebrew means also 'spirit'). Alongside these are notes documenting his reflections on the subject, as well as his relationship to the chosen format and to the works presented.

Yonatan Vinitsky (b. 1980) lives and works in Israel and London. He studied in London at Goldsmiths, University of London and the Royal College of Art. His works have been exhibited in Israel in museum exhibitions, as well as in international festivals and exhibitions.
