First Aid Books

The phrase "they were given primary care" has been heard in the media more and more in recent weeks following the beginning of the return of the hostages home. Art is helpless in the face of the destructive effects of war and violence on the individual and society. The books chosen for this month's recommendation relate to this helplessness, the fragility of human existence and the body, and the desire to nurse and heal.
The book First Aid by Aya Ben-Ron, consists of a folding concertina and a black-and-white booklet placed in a box, containing rescue solutions for times of emergency, alongside texts taken from official first aid registers of the Israeli army, the Red Cross, and spiritual aid manuals, which have been edited and re-illustrated.
Apply Pressure to the Wound by Judith Margolis, was created in an attempt to avoid bad news during the second intifada in Jerusalem. The collages are placed on both sides of a concertina and can be changed at the hands of the viewer. They include yoga poses, first aid tips, references to violence, and more.
First Aid Book - Intifada by the late Meir Agassi, is a ready-made copy of the 39th edition of the book in the English language. Agassi, who bought the copy in England, dressed it up page after page using bandages, gouache, plasters, and scotch tape. The more bandaged the book, the more wounded it actually becomes.
