The Miniature Library Collection by Zila Friedman

The Miniature Library Collection of artist and social activist Zila Friedman is an ongoing project investigating the library as a personal, family, religious, and historical medium. Friedman, the daughter of Holocaust survivors, is dealing with her roots in the ultra-Orthodox tradition. She merges into her hand-made artist's books, her preoccupation with Jewish culture, holiness, and mysticism. The Miniature Library Collection was created between 2023 and 2024 and currently includes over 70 one-off books, which bring together silenced family content, religious yearnings, and national narratives that have been dismantled and assembled.
