Ein LeZion

Alex Levac

1994

"Most of the photographs in this book were published in Levac’s photography column in the Hadashot newspaper. The editors convinced themselves, and readers, that Levac’s photography is an independent compassionate, ironic, literary, theatrical, psychological and highly communicative commentary on the Israeli environment.
The photographs, which are not staged, comment rather than preach, show reality rather than act as an intellectual or conceptual projection. These are photographs that are stored in our memory and consciousness, until they and 'the place' and 'the people' became one. Levac’s photographs capture the urban landscape, the human theater, and sometimes in front of a certain human or urban image you will surely find yourself saying: 'This is Levac to a tee'."
