Look It Is Night Up There

The book is about awakening. The book is composed of documentary photographs of pillows and written dreams. The people who took part in my project received white pillow cases, which they slept on. In the morning I took a photograph of the sleeping marks, that were impressed on their pillows. The participants were also asked to write down a dream, very close in time to their waking. The imprints of the dreams condensed into small format, surrounded by emptiness of the page, thinning upon the surface.
What has faded away at the moment of awaking has become reality in the act of art.

Gali Popper, born in 1958, lives, creates and teaches in Haifa. Graduated from Art Studies at the Art Seminary in Ramat Hasharon . Graduated goldsmith studies at the Academic Institute for Design and Education Wizo Haifa. Studied directing, film shooting and documentary film editing as well as photography at the Academic Institute for Design and Education Wizo Haif.
