The Green Line

2022

The boundary between Israel and the West Bank, under the control of the Kingdom of Jordan, was established in a cease-fire agreement in Rhodes in 1949 and is known as “The Green Line.”
Our project shows the current situation of the Green Line on the ground, 56 years after the Six-Day War, which completely changed the geopolitical situation in the region.
In 1967, during the Six-Day War, Israel gained control over the area up to the Jordan River and in reality, the border was obliterated.
Our initial motivation was to see what remained of the Green Line which is a watershed between those who support a territorial compromise agreement with the Palestinians and those who oppose it and even aspire to annex the area to Israel.
We chose to travel along the Green Line and to document the old border, boundary markers, remains of barriers, military patrol roads, the new separating fence and environmental changes of civilian character. .
The joint project contains our two points of view as photographers that enable us a broader view of the situation on the ground. In this, the intention was to examine through visual aspects, positions deriving from the conscious change in relation to the Green Line and its significance for us.
A joint project by Mossi Armon and Dan Haimovich.
