Books For A Blue Valentine's Day

‏To mark Valentine's Day, in an attempt to overcome the muteness that the October 7 war brings with it, I have chosen three books that deal with the impossible love for this place. A love that involves loss and grief, more than ever these days. Shuka Glutman writes a haiku about the Gaza Envelope on Japanese postcards given to him as a gift. Joel Kantor photographs his beloved Tel Aviv between 1993 and 1995, and refers in the book's title to Hiroshima, Mon Amour and from it to WW2. Hila Lulu Lin Farrah Kufer Birim and her partner Hana Fuad Farrah Kufer Birim created The Burden, Cabri – a box of hand-made prints that deal with the pains caused by the 1948 war. Will it ever be possible to love this place without paying such heavy prices? This will truly be a cause for celebration.
