Baskets Diary

Tal Yerushalmi

2018

Archaeological finds and remnants of culture and humanity are an important part of the foundations of Tal Yerushalmi’s paintings.
The artist’s book Baskets Diary, published in 2018 with the support of the Israel Lottery Council for Culture and the Arts, combines extensive research at archeological sites, at the Israel Museum storage, and at the Institute of Archeology at Tel Aviv University. The book combines paintings by Tal Yerushalmi alongside photographs and archeological drawings and collages created as part of the working process on the artist’s book.
The paintings and photographs are accompanied by a text by the curator Bar Yerushalmi, who embarks on a journey in remote cultures and in distant times, in order to understand the action of Tal Yerushalmi’s painting and its meaning.
