Eternal Afternoon Nap

Shay Zilberman

2014

In the artist’s book Eternal Afternoon Nap, which accompanied his solo exhibition at the Inga Gallery in Tel Aviv in 2014, Shay Zilberman describes his point of view about the world through the eyes and gaze of other artists. By hand-collaging fragments of existing images, he assembles a new reality with a ready-made nostalgic dimension and creates fantastic invented landscapes with their own history, rules and characteristics from existing sites that trigger a sense of déjà vu. The landscapes Silberman creates look like cities that were abandoned by their inhabitants before a disaster, or who picked up and moved elsewhere, or fell asleep in their homes for an eternal afternoon nap.
