Faded But Not Forgotten

Hagar Cygler

2017

This set of six books was made from photographs and markings found in an assortment of books that were donated to the American Jewish University Library in Los Angeles. Bound together, these personal (though forgotten) remains raise the question of how to handle the ephemera of a life—what to do with something we consider precious and valuable but has lost its usage. The books tell the story of the struggle to simultaneously hold on and let go of the private memory and examines why and how it is cherished.
