Yanai Toister was born on Kibbutz Yizre’el in 1977. He studied art at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, completed a master’s degree under the supervision of Allan Sekula at CalArts in Los Angeles, and earned a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sydney, Australia. He is a senior lecturer at the Shenkar School of Multidisciplinary Art and, since 2017, has served as Head of the Unit for History and Philosophy of Art, Design, and Technology at the Azrieli Faculty of Design at Shenkar. Toister is also active as a curator and researcher. His works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad.
