Children's Health Guide

Geffen Refaeli

2016

Children’s Health Guide is an illustrated pseudo-scientific index of childhood ailments and the methods to treat them.
The work on the project began by collecting educational Jewish-Ashkenazi myths and folktales, which teach children etiquette and hygiene. Inspired by their grotesque humoristic style, Rafaeli created the 15 illnesses described in this book. The book’s illustrations and general design draws inspiration from medieval medicine guides, Eastern and Western medical illustrations, and 19th- century German children’s books.
The book was written and illustrated under the pseudonym Dr. Rolf Kishintuches as a final project in the visual communications program at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, 2010.
