Photographs, Our Land

"The pictures in this volume are not photographs of historical events. They are not concentrated around a specific subject. The subjects are anonymous people engaged in banal incidents, all of whom together reflect the anthtopological face of our society. This is the documentation of "non-events", quotidian street pictures of moments snatched from the uninterrupted stream of life. Because they were taken quickly, without preparation, sometimes the duration of the event is identical with the length of its exposure to the camera. Hence many of the pictures are imperfect with respect to composition, they are not necessarily aesthetic - but all of them say something authentic about our time and place."
