Shai (Shaul) Ignatz was born in Ashdod in 1969. He holds a degree in Photography and a Master’s degree from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. He teaches photography at the University of Haifa, Sapir College, and Kaye College. Between 2016 and 2018, he published a photography column in the online magazine Tohu. His work mainly focuses on portrait photography, and many of his works explore aspects of gender and LGBTQ+ visual culture.
